Viking Legends Youth Football Program provides an opportunity for students from first grade to sixth grade to get out, be active, learn football fundamentals, and most importantly have fun! Viking Legends is a parent ran program. Our focus is to service the students of the Evergreen community, get kids out, be active, learn how to play as a team, and most important have some fun with friends!
The Viking Legends Youth football program is a non-profit, self funded club made possible by donations, fundraisers and participation fees. Viking Legends has four divisions:
1st & 2nd Grades:
Athletes presently in 1st & 2nd grades (of the football season) can participate in flag football. During the season the kids will learn some basic fundamentals of the game of football. Coaches will be teaching kids how to throw, catch, and hold the football. As the season progresses, they integrate some basic football plays and running routes. The 1st & 2nd grade division do not play outside teams, but will hold scrimmages against each other during the season. We encourage any children, both boys and girls, to join in flag football, helping them to get active, have fun, and learn to be a team player!
3rd & 4th Grades:
Athletes presently in grades 3rd and 4th (of the football season) will continue to participate in the flag football program. Athletes will begin to learn more in-depth football fundamentals, as the coaches prepare players for tackle at the next level. 3rd & 4th grade teams will begin running plays, running routes, etc. These teams will have scheduled flag football games through-out the season against other area teams, both home and away. We encourage any children, both girls and boys, to participate in flag football to prepare and have a good understanding of football fundamentals prior to entering the tackle football program.
Athletes presently in 5th grade (of the football season), has the opportunity to participate in tackle football. Building off of the basics learned during the flag football program, this is where coaches bring it all together as players are introduced to blocking, tackling, and defending. 5th grade tackle football will have scheduled tackle football games through-out the season against other area teams, both home and away.* Equipment is provided by Viking Legends.
Athletes presently in 6th grade (of the football season), has the opportunity to participate in tackle football. Coaches continue to develop players, as they prepare them for junior high play. Athletes will continue to develop their blocking, route running, ball handling, understanding of play calls, and learning to play as a team. 6th grade tackle football will have scheduled tackle football games through-out the season against other area teams, both home and away.* Equipment is provided by Viking Legends.
* 5th and 6th grade game scheduling may vary season to season. Due to participation number variations within Viking Legends program and/or fellow programs, there could be a need to combine both grades for some games.
